We're a family-owned business, and we've always believed that shopping for kids should be fun, personal, and never more complicated than it needs to be.
It Started With a Toy Store
Our story began in 1978, when founder Minya Oh opened Galt Toys in Chicago.
Inspired by the magic of FAO Schwarz and a love of thoughtfully made toys, Minya set out to create a store filled with products that sparked curiosity, encouraged creativity, and were made to last. She traveled to toy fairs and sourced products from around the world, bringing Galt Toys to Chicago and building a business around quality, discovery, and a little bit of wonder.
That same idea still shapes Galt today.
As the families who shopped with us grew, so did we. Parents who once came in looking for their child's first toy eventually returned for strollers, car seats, nursery furniture, baby gifts—and eventually brought their own children through our doors.
Today, Galt Toys + Galt Baby brings those two worlds together: baby gear and nursery essentials alongside the toys, books, gifts, and little things that make childhood fun.

There are a lot of choices when you're having a baby. And sometimes, you just want to see something in person, try it out, and talk to someone who knows what they're doing.

Our Northbrook location is our largest baby gear destination, with an extensive selection of strollers, car seats, nursery furniture, gliders, travel systems, and more. It's a great place to take your time, compare products, and get hands-on with the gear you're considering.
We welcome families from Northbrook, Glenview, Wilmette, Winnetka, Deerfield, Highland Park, Lake Forest, and throughout the North Shore as well as expecting parents from all over the U.S.
Chicago
Our downtown Chicago location brings together baby gear with a much larger selection of toys, books, Jellycats, games, puzzles, and gifts.
